Winter wedding

Hello! Happy Wednesday! We're halfway through the week, yeah!

This is my second and last week at the Designer Spotlight at Simons Says Challenge. I've enjoyed my time with them. Thanks to Chris and the other DT members at Simon Says for giving me the opportunity.

Their theme for their challenge is Winter Love. Well, the theme that I was given was more specific and it was winter wedding, so I was trying to make a wedding card, hee hee. When I was first informed of the theme, my first reaction was...oh oh, am I in trouble!!! I don't have any bride-and-groom images. What should I do, what should I do?... Anyway, this was a real challenge--strained my brain, LOL--and this is what I finally came up with.

Now, since I still don't have a bride and groom, what I've done is made a card featuring Tilda as a flower girl. I don't know if that's appropriate or not for a wedding card, but hey, I have to make do with what I've got, hee hee. This is sort of a short story of Flower Girl Tilda on the wedding day/morning. At the front of the card, she is helping out by placing the bride-and-groom caketop on the wedding cake (aha..I do have a bride and groom!!! hee hee!) .

And in the inside of the card, Tilda is sitting by the church window waiting for the bride to come out, so she can start walking down the aisle.

To make these flower girls, I've done a bit of masking with 2 Tilda images and used the image of a flower garland from another Tilda.
I was supposed to make this a winter wedding. The only thing I could think of was using winter colours. That what I did here and went with blue, white and silver.
Okay, not a traditional wedding card, but I'm quite pleased with how this turned out anyway. Hope you like it too.

Now I must get back to those Christmas cards!!! Yikes, exactly one month before Christmas!!! Full steam ahead now.
Have a wonderful day everybody. Thanks for visiting.

for someone special

Happy Tuesday!!

This is going to be a quick and short posting, as I want to post this before leaving for work this morning. Am running late already—woke up too late. Well, I actually fell back to sleep after my alarm clock woke me up the first time. I am always doing that!!! I’m such a night owl. Love working into the night, but have to force myself to get up the morning after.

I have this Christmas song buzzing in my head. I think it’s sung by WHAM. It goes like this:

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, but the very next day, you gave it away.
This year, to save me from tears, I'll give it to someone special …...

Do you know that one? Well, this card was inspired by that song. Week 28 challenge at Allsorts Challeng Blog is to take inspiration from a Christmas carol or song title… I’m stretching the title part a bit to the entire first verse of the song, so I hope that’s okay.

I’m using Jeanette’s wonderful sketch that she has provided for Friday Sketchers Challenge 79.

In stamping the images, I’ve done some MASKING, which is the challenge for Week 32 at Just Magnolia Challenge Blog.

What I usually do with my Tildas or Edwins is cut them out with my craft knife and/or my small pointed sciccor and then prop them on pieces of foam tape/dimensionals to give the cards the 3-D look. I think I can count the number of cards on one hand that I haven't done this with. But if I do that with this card, that beats the purpose of masking, doesn't it? So I have left this card in its 2-dimensional state.

Challenge 32 at Colour Create Challenge is to use green, red and white, so that's the colour scheme for this card.

I went for a clean look for this card. Not too much fuss.

On another note, In2stamps has just reveal their 2nd release, the “Birthday Collection”. Ooooh, the images are sooo… cute. You just have to take a quick peek HERE.

Before I sign off, I want to thank everyone who comes to visit me and especially those who leaves me a comment. You have been so encouraging and supportive in your comments. They are very uplifting and mean more to me than you will ever know.

Thanks for dropping by and enjoy your day!

Lantern Gift Box

Hello! Happy weekend!

It's time for a new challenge at Magnolia Down Under Challenge blog. For the next fortnight (two weeks) the theme for our Challenge #27 is... Christmas decoration/card. The DT members have been creative with this theme, so make sure you hop over to MDUC and check out the other cards and projects. For an added incentive to enter our challenge, there is a price of one of the adorable images from the 2009 So Jolly, So Snowy collection from the Magnolia Down Under *STORE*. So here's what I created:

What I wanted to make was a gift box to go along with the card that I made for the last MDUC Challenge #26. I was trying to make it look similar to the lantern that Edwin is carrying. What do you think? Hmm... Probably would look more like a lantern if I put a handle on it. Ah well, it's a a gift box. The most important thing is......the chocolate inside!!! LOL.

The see-through windows are on two opposite sides and the other 2 sides I've decorated with Edwin on one side and Tilda on the other. They're the same images I used on the card.

I've put another Tilda image under the lid--just for a bit of a surprise for when you open the box, hee hee.

I used the same designer papers here as the ones I used on the card.

Hope the weather improves later on. Saturday here has been nothing but rain, rain, rain. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

New DT spot!

Exciting news for me!!! I haven't posted a formal announcement, but you might have noticed the changes in my side panel already, as I've made them a few days ago, LOL.

Woo hoo...! I've been given the opportunity to join the DT members of In2stamps.

I was so excited when I got the e-mail from Wendy and Bruno. In2Stamps is a new stamp company based in Belgium. They have the most wonderful images. I feel very privileged to be joining their team and am looking forward to working with the the In2stamps images--can't wait.....

Tilda and Ginger

Hello everyone. And a happy Wednesday!

Woohoo!!!! I've been given the opportunity to be a Guest DT at Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog, for a couple of weeks. Thank you so much ladies. This is by Guest DT card for their Nov. 18/09 challenge. The theme is... Animal Antics.

The image I used here is Magnolia's Tilda with Cat. The cat's name is Ginger, so I coloured her thus appropriately (or did I use that colour first and then call her Ginger?...LOL).

I couldn't think of what embelishment to put at first--I really didn't want to use flowers on this card. I didn't have anything in my stash that's related to a cat. So I had to make something and I hit upon this ball of wool idea. I just punched a circle out of thick cardstock, wrapped some wool/yarn around it and glued it in place.

To decorate the inside of my card, I found the perfect image. This is one of Mo's Digital Stamps.
Aww, doesn't Mo Manning just create such adorable images?

That's it. Thanks for visiting my blog. Would very much appreciate a comment if you have the time.

And don't forget to visit Simon Says Challenge and check out the fabulous creations from their DT members. You may also want to enter their challenge--a $25 Simon Says credit voucher may be yours!
Have a wonderful day!

Thinking of you...across the miles

Hello!

This is going to be a short posting. I haven't posted for a while. Finally have a card for you now. (I have been busy with other cards, but not too be posted yet...hee hee.)

I made this card for a few challenges and also to cross off one more name on my Christmas card list--gosh, it's approaching fast, isn't it?

These are the challenges: A Spoon Full of Sugar. The theme for their Challenge 77 is Create a Scene.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge. The theme for their current challenge is Thinking of You.

Colour Create Challenge. Challenge 31 - BLUE, SILVER and WHITE...with the optional extra, the theme is WINTER and GLITTER.

Cute Card Thursday. Challenge 86 - Glitter me Silly! Here's a close-up to show off the glitters.

I didn't use any DP on this. The background paper was from when I was experimenting with sprinkling salt on a watercolour wash. The trees are done as per my tutorial--click here if you're interested. The sentiment is computer generated.

Don't forget to hop over to MDUC and check out the other DT's fabulous creations. It'll be worth it!!
That's it for now! Didn't I say this was going to be short!!! LOL. Have a wonderful day!

Stamps: Mangnolia Chilly Tilda and Log.
Tools: Martha Stewart snowflake punch, Fiskars snowflake border punch. Cuttlebug snowflakes embossing folder and Big Shot (I finally got one, woo hoo!!!).

A lantern to light the way

Happy weekend!

A new challenge for Magnolia Down Under Challenge!

It is our Challenge #26 and the challenge is the following sketch from Shell Barnard:

And this is sponsored by Kellie herself. She is offering a $10 Gift Voucher to spend in her very own newly-opened Magnolia Only store. That's Aussie dollars, guys--go for it!!! And you have 2 weeks to create something.

The sketch wasn't really meant for it, hee hee, but I used it to make a joy fold card--artistic licence!! I had the hardest time trying to finish this card. I kept fiddling with it even after I thought I was finished. It just wasn't looking right... But I think I'm done playing with it now.

I also made this card for Stamp With Fun. Their Challenge #31 is to make a card with a scene. I have created two scenes here. The stamps for the background sceneries, Alota Side Wall with Window and the Magnolia Brick Wall, I purchased from Diana's store Magnolia-licious.

For Week 7 at Basic Grey Challenges, it is a photo-inspiration challenge. The picture is over to the right, here.
It was so obvious to me what Basic Grey DP I was going to use. Any guesses, LOL?

It's a "Bring out your bling" challenge at All Sorts Challenge--they want to see lots of sparkles. I didn't use any rhinestone, but I have lots of sparkles on the card. The ribbon on the front of the card is a sparkly red and gold ribbon. I've put glitters on the angel wings of both Tilda and Edwin. And also on the the white-fur trims of all the hats for Tilda, the critter and the pooch.
Hmm... not sure if you can see that in the pictures. You might have to blow the pictures up to really see.
The final challenge is from Roses on Paper. Their Challenge # 24 is for a Christmas card.

I've put a blank space on the left panel for personal messages to be written on.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. And for those of you who leave me a comment, a double thank you. I really do appreciate it. Enjoy your weekend!
